About Me
Welcome!
Hello, I am Tim J. Culbertson
I love movies and remember watching them and reading about them all my life. My mom, bless her heart passed at forty six when I was just seventeen. She instilled me the passion for movies and books as I have an extensive book and movie collection coupled by my music CDs.
Being the youngest of five children in conservative Southeast Missouri, I chose leaving in 1986 for Dallas, Texas. Our sharing the ups and downs made us stronger people. I didn’t care to hunt or fish like my siblings, choosing my love for books, movies and watching baseball.. especially my baseball St. Louis Cardinals and after retiring in March 2022 having devoted time traveling with my husband Gary LaPalombara and writing manuscripts having published two manuscripts, two pending and currently drafting a fifth manuscript.

The author was fascinated by movie stars and their lives, particularly Gerold Frank’s biography “Judy.” They joined a book-of-the-month club and enjoyed weekly shopping with their mom at the neighborhood bookshop. They didn’t have a job until college, working in the university library or as a referee for intramural sports. They received a monthly benefit from Social Security since their mother died in 1976. The author recalls getting in trouble for purchasing too many books or not handing in the monthly selection card on time.
The author’s father, who worked with sheet metal and was in the lower middle class, helped them through four and a half years of college with little grants. His father didn’t want the government or anyone else to know about his money, but it helped them pay for college. The author didn’t tell anybody about their sexual orientation while they were growing up in conservative Missouri. The one person they did tell was their devout high school and college lover who was against homosexual people. Nobody knew about this “don’t ask, don’t tell” condition, not even relatives or friends.
